FAQS
Preparation is key!
The grants process is broken into three (3) sections: research, writing and submission of the proposal. This process can take a minimum of three (3) weeks once the
writing begins for private and local foundations and a minimum of four (4) weeks for government grants.
Do grants have to be paid back?
No, grant funds typically do not need to be repaid to the granting agency unless they are mismanaged or not used in accordance with the grant’s guidelines. In such cases, the funder may request the return of the funds.
While this depends on the foundation, it can take an average 6-9 months to receive the award money.
I adhere to the ethical standards established by the Grant Professionals Association (GPA) and, therefore, do not accept commission-based or contingency payments. Compensation should not be written into grants unless allowed by the funder. For more information, please refer to the GPA's Code of Ethics.
